Grand Ocean Collection

GRAND OCEAN collection is intrinsically linked to yachting and water world.  It is also the emblematic watch of  the Extreme Sailing Series tm championship, a stadium racing format involving Extreme 40 catamarans.  These races are taking place from January to December on all seas of the globe.

Grand Ocean collection detail are linked to yachting world and all details tell the same story.  The caseback is beautifully engraved with the map of the world like an old sailor's map.  The porthole aperture allows a view on the beating movement of the sumptuous mechanism.

The hands design remind of a compass needle.  The use of the compass was already recorded during the 11th century.  The compass is used for navigation and orientation that shows direction relative to the geographic cardinal directions, or "points".
Also, the Grand Ocean dial features a diagram called the compass rose, which is also used for navigation purposes, using the 4 directions, north, south, east and west.  Compass & compass rose are still intensively used by sailors on seas.
